Ryan is the co-founder and CEO of Solidec as well as Activate Fellow. Ryan began his career in research and consulting, where he developed technologies for clean water access around the globe. His work has spanned a range of scales, from lab-scale technologies to infrastructure projects. He received masters and PhD in engineering from Cambridge and Yale, respectively, and is an author of 20 peer-reviewed articles.

Yang is the co-founder and CTO of Solidec as well as an Activate Fellow. His work focuses on building electrolyzers at scale to pull molecules out of thin air. Yang received his PhD from Rice University in chemical engineering, where he first built Solidec’s technology, and has published over 10 peer-reviewed articles, including publications in Nature and Science.

Haotian is the co-founder and Chief Scientist at Solidec as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice University. He began his research career as a principal investigator at Harvard. His research group focuses on developing novel electrochemical reactors and      nanocatalysts for energy and environmental applications, and his over 90 publications have received more than 30,000 citations.

Daniel is a Sr. Electrochemical Engineer at Solidec. His work focuses on the optimization and scale-up of our electrolyzers to produce chemicals from air and water. Daniel has experience scaling-up electrochemical devices in the green hydrogen industry. He received his PhD from New York University in chemical engineering, focusing on the optimization of electrochemical devices.

Dr. Mengjie Chen is a Senior Electrochemist at Solidec. His work focuses on designing and optimizing the electrochemical reactor for high-efficiency production of chemicals.  His professional R&D experience includes the deployment of PEM fuel cell and AEM water electrolyzer technologies, ion-exchange membrane development, nanomaterial synthesis, and MEA innovation. Dr. Chen has authored 20 peer-reviewed articles with more than 4,500 citations in the field of polymer, catalyst, and electrochemistry.

Hangil is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Solidec. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and is currently responsible for designing and scaling up the company’s novel electrolyzer stack. He brings over five years of experience in hydrogen fuel cell system development from his time at Hyundai, with expertise in stack component design, prototyping, validation, and data analysis. He is also the author of multiple peer-reviewed publications and the inventor of several patents.

Tanmay Kulkarni is a Senior R&D Scientist at Solidec, specializing in ionic separations and electrochemical process development. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University, where he developed the bipolar membrane capacitive deionization technology with applications in critical mineral recovery, water treatment, and lithium brine processing. He has 4 years of industry experience in electrolyzer research, electrochemical process scale-up, and hydrocarbon process modeling. Tanmay has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in the electrochemical separations and holds a patent in direct lithium extraction technology.

Alexandra Fernandez is a Research & Development Engineer at Solidec. Her work focuses on the development of our electrolyzer technology for emissionless chemical and fuel production. Alexandra’s research background includes her work at the Hawaiʻi Natural Energy Institute, where she focused on the electrochemical cogeneration of hydrogen peroxide and electricity. Alexandra obtained her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Arizona State University and her master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Julia is the Head of Commercialization at Solidec. She previously worked on strategy at the US DOE’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations to accelerate commercial adoption of emerging industrial/energy technologies through funding FOAK projects. She worked on partnerships and growth at CREW Carbon, whose solution increases the efficiency of wastewater treatment while removing carbon dioxide. She started her career at Silicon Valley Bank as a lender to venture-backed startups. Julia received a B.A. in Economics from Columbia and an MBA from Wharton.

Dr. Matthew Jordan is a Senior Process Engineer at EnergyX and a technology leader of the company’s electrodialysis and ion-exchange membrane product line. He has 6 years of experience in bench and pilot deployments of electrodialysis technologies, ion-exchange membrane development, roll-to-roll manufacturing of polymer thin films, and process development and scaleup in the lithium, bioprocessing, direct air capture, and water treatment areas. Dr. Jordan has authored 8 publications and 2 patented technologies in the electrochemical field.
